Dr. Sheila Coogan earned her undergraduate degree at Williams College in Williamstown, Mass., and her medical degree at McGovern Medical School at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth). She completed her residency at the Cleveland Clinic and a fellowship in cardiology at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston.

In practice since 1991, Dr. Coogan is board certified in general surgery and vascular surgery. She specializes in minimally invasive vascular and endovascular surgery, and her clinical interests include carotid artery disease, aortic disease, claudication, limb salvage, venous insufficiency, varicose veins, chronic venous obstructive disease and pelvic vein congestion.

Dr. Coogan’s patients describe her as a knowledgeable, caring, thorough and logical physician, who explains things well and helps them feel comfortable.

She is a member of the American Association for Vascular Surgery, American Medical Association, Michael E. DeBakey International Surgical Society, Peripheral Vascular Surgery Society and Western Vascular Surgery Society. She has published numerous articles, chapters and abstracts on vascular surgery and has participated in nine research trials that have investigated improvement of vascular surgery techniques and use of new devices.
