Dr. Susan Wootton earned her medical degree at the Medical College of Georgia. She completed her residency at the University of Virginia and a fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston.

In practice since 1997, Dr. Wootton is board certified in two areas: pediatrics and pediatric infectious diseases. She is also certified by the Pediatric Advanced Life Support Program. Her primary clinical interest is vaccine-preventable infections and her primary research interests include the promotion of vaccination delivery among high-risk patients, promotion of comparative effectiveness research, use of innovative trial designs, reduction of regulatory burdens and advanced training of clinical investigators.

Dr. Wootton is an associate professor of pediatrics at McGovern Medical School at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth) and a member of the Center for Clinical Research and Evidence-Based Medicine. She serves on the board of the Texas Pediatric Society and The Immunization Partnership, a non-profit organization dedicated to eradicating vaccine-preventable infections. As a practitioner, her goal is to to provide the highest quality and most cost-efficient medical care to infants, children and adolescents.
