Dr. Chip Routt earned his undergraduate degree from Texas A&M University and his medical degree from The University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston. He completed an orthopedic surgery internship and residency at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tenn., and a fellowship in orthopedic traumatology at the University of Washington Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.

Dr. Routt, who has been in practice since 1983, is board certified in orthopedic surgery. He specializes in orthopedic trauma and fracture care with an emphasis on treating patients with multiple injuries. His areas of expertise include pelvic ring and acetabular (hip socket) disruptions, as well as acetabular fractures. 

He is a member of the American Medical Association, American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, American Orthopedic Association, Orthopedic Trauma Association and AO Alumni Association. He serves as a professor of orthopedic surgery at McGovern Medical School at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth).

Dr. Routt is internationally recognized for his pioneering work developing safe percutaneous pelvic fixation techniques, relevant pelvic biomechanical research, reliable pelvic and acetabular imaging, innovative and improved surgical care for complex acetabular fractures, optimizing surgical decision-making and clinical judgment, and advancing surgical safety by diminishing risk.
