Physician Biography

Dr. Ankush Bhatia, MD, MS, is a neuro-oncologist who specializes in the treatment of primary brain and spine tumors, and neurological complications of cancer. He is board certified in neurology by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, as well as in neuro-oncology, by the United Council for Neurologic Subspecialties. Dr. Bhatia treats patients 12 years and older.

Dr. Bhatia earned his undergraduate degree in Molecular Biophysics and Biochemistry at the Illinois Institute of Technology.  He then pursued a Master’s in anatomy and cell biology and Medical School at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, where he stayed to complete his residency in neurology.  He then completed his fellowship in neuro-oncology at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York City.  Prior to joining Mischer Neuroscience Associates, Dr. Bhatia served as faculty at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. 

Dr. Bhatia is a member of the American Academy of Neurology, Society of Neuro-Oncology, and American Society of Clinical Oncology. He has published extensively on neuro-oncology in multiple prestigious journals, including Neuro-Oncology and Haematologica.  He has also authored a number of peer-reviewed articles and book chapters and has served as an investigator in multiple clinical trials.

His goal is to provide the best possible care for patients, while advancing available treatments through research and clinical trials. His research background enables him to bring clinical trials to the most vulnerable patient populations.

Dr. Bhatia provides neuro-oncological services with special interest in the treatment of the following conditions: gliomas such as glioblastoma, astrocytoma, oligodendroglioma, ependymoma; spinal cord tumors; other primary brain tumors such as central nervous system lymphoma and meningiomas; bbrain metastasis (including leptomeningeal disease); neurological complications of cancer such as chemotherapy-induced peripheralneuropathy and paraneoplastic disorders; histiocytic disorders such as Erdheim-Chester disease; neurofibromatosis; and pituitary tumors.

Dr. Bhatia is happily married and enjoys traveling with his wife, running, biking, playing tennis and exploring Houston.
